Wake Up: Do you Still Want Your Ex-Girlfriend back?

1 June 2009 2 Comments

I often see a lot of men getting despondent and act as if the sky really did fall on their heads the moment their ex-friends walk out that door. I cannot think of anything sorrier than this kind of response. I also see a lot of websites catering to dispense information on how exactly you need to get your ex-girlfriend back — I think a lot of it is shit. Here’s what will help if you keep this in mind:

  1. If she’s gone, why don’t you just let go: Look, the fact that one of you walked away is as obvious as a pimple on my fair cheek. Now, if she is out of your life, a lot of little things would have led to this point, don’t you think? None of these little things that led to the break-up would have been pleasant – some of them could have been worked on and some of them just plain inevitable. But ultimately, the relationship is over. How hard can it be to accept this and move on? Just get out of it all and let her go.
  2. Why would you want her back? : A good question really. Was she so perfect for you that you don’t see any other girl who is even marginally better than her? Isn’t there another girl you could find who at least has better “ bad” than your ex-girlfriend’s “bad”? Why even settle down for someone like her, that too after she has left you, when it is indeed true that you have some really incredible, hot and sexy women you could try and win over? C’mon buddy. The world did not come to an end yet.
  3. You got balls and choices, so find another one: Following from the point above, no real man ever lives with his choices curtailed to bare minimum. He always has numerous choices. He comes from a position of power, choice and the ability to select what he wants. You are a real man; you got balls to make decisions on the fly and hey, you got more women than you’d know what to do with them all. So go ahead and find the next girl who seems to have some sort of appeal, brains and beauty – rare, but not impossible.
  4. Does begging and crying sound like great options to you? Just think about this for a second, ok? If you have to get your ex-girl friend back, assuming that she walked away and that you did not ditch her, you will have to change a bit. You will have to do things to her liking, be the way she likes you to be and accommodate her imperfections while burying yours somewhere—as if you are the only one with imperfections. All of that begging, pleading, and asking for permission thing isn’t in the “Alpha Male” dictionary.

Ex-girlfriends are history buddy. Let them go. You deserve someone better.

Hey, great post! I found you through the trackback, and I have to say that I agree with a lot of what you have to say in this post. Sometimes it’s just not right to hook back up (no I don’t mean “hook up” haha).

You’re right about the last part, for sure (#4). We women want that “Alpha Male” persona, whether we’ll admit to it or not. Although the part about ex-girlfriend’s being history — here’s what I have to say:

Yeah, probably about 50% of the time or more, you guys broke up for a reason, right? But sometimes there could be so much more. Thanks for the post, it really hits home.

    Luv,

    Hey Lorraine,

Coming from a woman, it adds a lot of juice to the post and thanks a million for that.

Broke up for a reason, yes. Should we go back to our Ex? Debatable. Well, I guess it will go on then :)
